Job summary

Middlesbrough Council is seeking a motivated individual to join the Housing Solutions team in Middlesbrough. The role focuses on carrying out homelessness assessments, preventing homelessness, and coordinating with services to support at-risk residents.

The ideal candidate will be experienced in housing solutions and able to work creatively with service users, while maintaining accurate records and clear communication with stakeholders. Hybrid working options are available.

• Ability to assess and support service users to prevent homelessness.

Responsibilities

• Carry out homelessness assessments in line with the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 and Domestic Abuse Act 2021.
• Aim to prevent homelessness using creative and collaborative methods.
• Conduct thorough investigations to support statutory decisions during the application process.
• Refer to relevant commissioned and non-commissioned services.
• Be creative and innovative in supporting people at risk of homelessness.
• Work as part of the Housing Solutions team to prevent and relieve homelessness.
• Record information accurately and timely.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues, applicants, and stakeholders.
• Work on a duty rota, Monday–Friday, with blended working options.

We are looking for someone who can:

• Carry out homelessness assessments in line with the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 also Domestic Abuse Act 2021.
• Aim to prevent homelessness wherever possible using creative and collaborative methods.
• Carry out thorough investigations to support statutory decisions making throughout the application process, assess the needs of the service user and formulate a personal housing plan.
• Be responsible for making referrals to relevant commissioned and non-commissioned services.
• Be creative and innovative in your approach to supporting people at risk of homelessness.
• Work as part of a wider Housing Solutions team to prevent and relieve homelessness wherever possible.
• Record information accurately and in a timely manner.
• Effectively communicate with colleagues, applicants, and stakeholders.
• Be part of a service that provided housing advice / support, Monday – Friday, working on a duty rota.

Whilst in post there will be development opportunities alongside flexible working within the option of a blended working environment (home and office where appropriate).
