Job summary

Middlesbrough Council is seeking a proactive Housing Solutions officer for an 18-month fixed-term role in Middlesbrough. You will assess homelessness cases, develop personal housing plans and refer clients to relevant services. The role requires creativity, collaboration and timely case recording.

You will work within a wider Housing Solutions team, on a Monday–Friday rota, with opportunities for blended working where appropriate and development pathways.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrate how you prioritise development and wellbeing of a team.
  • Have experience of working effectively with a range of services and have the skills, passion and resilience to work creatively with service users who are accessing Housing Solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out homelessness assessments in line with the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 also Domestic Abuse Act 2021.
  • Aim to prevent homelessness wherever possible using creative and collaborative methods.
  • Carry out thorough investigations to support statutory decisions making throughout the application process, assess the needs of the service user and formulate a personal housing plan.
  • Be responsible for making referrals to relevant commissioned and non-commissioned services.
  • Be creative and innovative in your approach to supporting people at risk of homelessness.
  • Work as part of a wider Housing Solutions team to prevent and relieve homelessness wherever possible.
  • Record information accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Effectively communicate with colleagues, applicants, and stakeholders.
  • Be part of a service that provided housing advice / support, Monday – Friday, working on a duty rota.

We have an exciting, 18-month fixed term opportunity for a motivated individual to join the Housing Solutions team.

We are looking for someone who can:

Whilst in post there will be development opportunities alongside flexible working within the option of a blended working environment (home and office where appropriate).
