Job summary

Manchester City Council's Housing Solutions Service delivers homelessness duties and supports residents to stay in their homes where possible. The role involves managing a varied caseload, gathering information from different sources, assessing against statutory duties and producing clear written outcomes.

You will agree actions with residents, keep cases moving, and collaborate with partner organisations to secure practical housing pathways and timely, lawful decisions.

Qualifications

• Clear and confident communication skills, able to explain processes, options and decisions respectfully.
• Strong decision-making and judgement, using evidence to reach balanced conclusions.
• Analytical and investigative skills with experience gathering and interpreting information.
• Able to manage a varied caseload, prioritising work to meet timescales.
• Practical, problem-solving approach to progress cases and identify next steps.
• Experience of accurate record-keeping using ICT for timely, audit-ready notes.
• Able to work collaboratively with colleagues and external partners.
• Commitment to equality, fairness and inclusive service delivery.
• Willingness to work to a rota including 11am-7pm shifts.
• Able to undertake an enhanced DBS check.
