Job summary

Mid Devon District Council is recruiting for a Housing Options Officer to join our busy Housing Options Team in the Devon area. You will support households facing homelessness, helping them understand housing options and working proactively to prevent homelessness where possible.

You will assess referrals under the Homelessness Reduction Act, conduct interviews both face-to-face and by telephone, and provide comprehensive housing advice and prevention support.

Qualifications

• Experience in housing, homelessness, or related advice service.
• Strong organisational skills and customer focus.

Responsibilities

• Assess referrals and approaches under the Homelessness Reduction Act.
• Carry out interviews face-to-face and by telephone.
• Provide housing advice and homelessness prevention support.
• Develop Personal Housing Plans and issue statutory notifications.
• Make formal decisions on homelessness applications.
• Maintain accurate case records and meet statutory timescales.
• Work with agencies to maximise housing opportunities.
• Represent the Council at multi-agency meetings.
