Job summary

Cyngor Caerdydd/Cardiff Council is seeking an experienced tradesperson to join the Responsive Repairs Unit. The role involves inspecting and quantifying repairs in Council-owned properties, with a strong focus on plastering and wet trades. You will determine the necessary repairs and whether to utilize in-house staff or external contractors.

The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of relevant experience, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to customer service. The position is temporary until 31st July 2028.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years’ experience in a relevant trade, such as plastering.
• Experience in responsive maintenance, assessing repairs, and resolving repair requests.
• Good understanding of general building and construction principles.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and quantify repairs in occupied Council homes.
• Identify required work and raise appropriate repairs.
• Decide whether work should be completed by the in-house workforce or external contractors.
• Ensure works meet the Repairs Standard taking account of Council resources.
• Maintain a customer-facing approach with strong communication.
