A local government authority in Newcastle upon Tyne is seeking a Housing Plus Officer to support vulnerable residents and enhance independent living. This role involves managing tenancies, ensuring health and safety compliance, and developing community networks to reduce social isolation. Ideal candidates will have strong communication skills and a passion for working with diverse populations. Housing Plus Officer: 2 full time posts, 37 hours per week.

Based in Housing Plus schemes, or providing support in the community, you will support vulnerable people (including older people and people with learning disabilities), support independent living, and create positive and vibrant communal living spaces. You will help reduce social isolation by developing community networks and providing low‑level person‑centred support as well as working with a range of partners. You will have responsibility for the building and for complying with health and safety requirements. You will manage tenancies and apply the conditions in the Tenancy Agreement, including addressing breaches.
Are you passionate about working with older, vulnerable people, and people with complex needs? Do you have great communication skills and an understanding of how good housing support can enhance customers’ lives? Are you self‑motivated, enthusiastic and customer‑focused? Can you deal with challenging situations and work under pressure? Can you manage a scheme building, ensuring the health and safety of you, residents, and visitors?

Interviews are anticipated to be Friday the 16th January 2026 and will include a written exercise.
References will be requested prior to interview for all roles requiring DBS clearance. The successful applicant will not commence until satisfactory DBS clearance is obtained.
