Job summary

Derbyshire County Council in the East Midlands is seeking an Housing Options Advisor to be the first point of contact in a customer focused front line Housing Solutions Service, delivering timely housing advice on options, information, guidance and signposting.

You will support Housing Options Officers with homelessness prevention work, conduct needs assessments, coordinate queries by email, phone, or letter, and keep accurate case records in line with procedures.

Qualifications

• Customer-facing front line experience preferred in housing or social services.
• Strong record-keeping and case management abilities.
• Good communication and guidance skills.

Responsibilities

• Be the first point of contact for Housing Solutions inquiries and provide timely housing advice.
• Deliver homelessness prevention guidance across housing options (social, private rental, supported housing).
• Support Housing Options Officers with needs assessments and signposting to services.
• Coordinate and respond to housing queries via email, mail, and phone.
• Ensure accurate and up-to-date records in case management systems.

We are currently recruiting for a Housing Options Advisor to be the first point of contact in a customer focused front line Housing Solutions Service providing timely and sometimes immediate housing advice to customers on a range of housing options, providing information, guidance and signposting on services and referral to a Housing Options Officer if required.

You will be providing homelessness prevention advice to customers on housing options including social housing, private rented accommodation, family mediation, supported housing and how to access private rented housing e.g. rent deposit schemes, discretionary housing payments and the homeless prevention fund.

You will need to act in a supporting capacity to our Housing Options Officers carrying out homelessness needs assessments, providing a customer focused, pro-active service to help residents secure their housing choices.

You will be co-ordinating and providing responses to all housing need & housing solutions queries including emails, housing systems correspondence & phone calls.

You will need to make timely and accurate records of all action in relation to client casework and to ensure client files are up to date and comprehensive, by following case management procedures and processes ensuring the correct standards are followed.
