Job summary

Westminster City Council is seeking a Housing Officer in Westminster to manage a patch of properties, deliver a high-quality service to residents and lead on estate action plans. The role requires strong customer-facing skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and a flexible approach to occasional evening meetings and emergencies.

Applicants with knowledge of tenancy law will have an advantage; regular hours are 9-5 with occasional after-hours commitments.

Qualifications

• Experience in delivering high-quality public services.
• Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
• Ability to plan, organise and prioritise work.
• Knowledge of tenancy law is an advantage.
• Flexible with evenings and occasional emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Manage your own patch of properties and provide high quality service.
• Carry out home visits, quarterly inspections and attend local surgeries.
• Lead on estate action plans development and publicity.
• Draft responses to complaints and enquiries; carry out reviews and renewals.
• Safeguard vulnerable residents and make welfare calls.
• Support victims of domestic violence with referrals to relevant agencies.
• Lead on reports of low-level nuisance cases and tenancy breaches.
• Collaborate with repairs service to pre-inspect void properties and manage viewing processes.
