Job description

We’re recruiting a Housing Officer to join our Housing Operations service and provide a comprehensive tenancy management service to residents across Milton Keynes.

You’ll help residents understand their tenancy rights and responsibilities, manage tenancy matters and respond to complex issues including anti-social behaviour, housing fraud and concerns about tenancy sustainment.

You’ll build relationships with residents and work closely with colleagues, the police, councillors and other partner organisations to manage risk, protect vulnerable residents and help create safe and sustainable neighbourhoods.

This is a rewarding role for someone with professional housing management knowledge or substantial relevant experience who can handle complex cases, make sound decisions and provide a professional and empathetic service.

Site-Based role

This is a Site-Based role, and you’ll be expected to work from the designated workplace.

Interviews for this role will be held on 16 November 2026 and will be held in Person

Main Responsibility
  • Deliver a comprehensive tenancy management service, including tenancy sign-ups, mutual exchanges, successions, tenancy changes and introductory tenancies.
  • Complete tenancy audits and investigate concerns about occupancy, property condition, tenancy breaches, safeguarding, fraud or unlawful subletting.
  • Manage anti-social behaviour and housing fraud cases, using proportionate prevention, intervention and enforcement measures.
  • Support residents with complex needs through a person-centred and trauma-informed approach, coordinating multi‑agency meetings and action plans where needed.
  • Assess and manage risk, gather evidence, prepare legal cases and represent the council in court when required.
  • Build positive relationships with residents, councillors, the police, council services and partner organisations to improve neighbourhoods and achieve better outcomes.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Qualified to a professional standard in housing management, with a Chartered Institute of Housing Level 3 qualification, or able to demonstrate substantial equivalent experience of complex tenancy and resident management.
  • An approachable and resilient communicator who can respond with empathy while setting clear and appropriate boundaries.
  • Sound knowledge of secure tenancy management and the legislation governing housing, anti-social behaviour, enforcement and community safety.
  • Confident in assessing changing risks, using professional curiosity and making complex decisions independently.
  • A collaborative approach to working with residents, colleagues and partner organisations, reflecting our values of being dedicated, respectful and collaborative.
  • Able to visit different locations, work flexibly when required, and hold a valid UK driving licence with access to a vehicle.
