Nacro is a national Social Justice Charity with more than 50 years' experience of changing lives, building stronger communities, and working with stakeholders towards reducing crime.

Nacro delivers the Community Accommodation Support service (CAS), a national service across England and Wales. The service helps Courts make greater use of bail by providing community-based accommodation with support for adult defendants who could not otherwise be bailed. CAS also supports adults released from custody in the last three months of their sentence on Home Detention Curfew (HDC) and other Licence Orders.

The team provides flexible, holistic support to residents with diverse needs, aiming to help them find and maintain stable homes at the end of their CAS-2 placement. You will manage a caseload of residents and properties within your area.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Support clients to comply with HDC/Bail conditions.
  • Create realistic, achievable Support Plans that include accessing housing and accommodation services to facilitate move-on to longer-term housing.
  • Ensure all Support Plans and Risk Assessments are personalized, inclusive, and person-centered.
  • Provide weekly support to residents to engage with their plans and work towards their goals.
  • Assist residents in accessing Housing Benefit to prevent tenancy risks and rent arrears.
  • Manage properties to ensure they meet Decent Homes Standard by reporting repairs and replacing furniture and equipment as needed.
  • Undertake basic cleaning tasks as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver effective, person-centered Support and Safety Plans.
  • Provide weekly support sessions (up to 2 hours) to help residents achieve their goals.
  • Maintain up-to-date records for each resident.
  • Support residents with Housing Benefit applications.
  • Refer residents to specialist support agencies when needed.
  • Liaise with partner agencies such as Probation, Prison Services, Courts, and Police.
  • Ensure properties are well-equipped, maintained, furnished, and clean.
  • Empower and motivate residents to reach their desired outcomes.
  • Develop move-on plans early, identifying realistic future housing options.

What We Expect From You

  • Ability to develop person-centered support and move-on plans.
  • Understanding of safeguarding procedures.
  • Experience working with vulnerable adults with complex needs (e.g., substance misuse, health issues, mental health, employment, and housing support).
  • Flexibility to travel within your area for training and meetings, and to cover other local areas as needed.
  • Familiarity with computer-based packages.

What you can expect from us

  • A supportive, results-driven team.
  • Flexible community-based work allowing you to plan your workload.
  • Opportunities for career development and learning.
  • Excellent benefits, including generous annual leave, sick pay exceeding statutory requirements, cycle-to-work scheme, and more.
