Job summary

RBKC is seeking a Homelessness and Housing Litigation Solicitor to provide clear, practical legal advice on homelessness, allocations, appeals and judicial review, helping the Council make lawful decisions.

You will manage your own caseload, draft and defend proceedings, advise on housing policy, and work with officers to find practical, legally sound solutions. This role offers a busy, impactful environment where you support residents and contribute to fair outcomes.

Qualifications

• Qualified solicitor, barrister or Fellow of CILEx eligible to practise in England and Wales.
• Strong knowledge of homelessness and housing law with relevant experience (homelessness appeals, allocations, judicial review).
• Excellent drafting, advocacy, negotiation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Advise on duties under Parts 6 and 7 of the Housing Act 1996, homelessness appeals, allocations, judicial reviews and related policy issues.
• Manage your own caseload, draft and defend proceedings, prepare advice and legal documents, and work with Council officers.
• Handle complex, high-profile matters while ensuring deadlines and procedures are followed and records are kept up to date.
