Job summary

Northumberland County Council in Blyth is seeking an Income Officer to join the Housing Management Team. You will lead on tenancy arrears investigations, set up payment plans, and support referrals to specialist services as needed.

You will regularly contact customers, undertake property visits when required, and work with multiple teams to ensure a customer-focused arrears service that helps households in financial difficulty.

Qualifications

• Experience in income collection and tenancy management is required.
• Knowledge of welfare benefits (CRF/ DHP, under-occupation) is preferred.
• Be a team player, empathetic and ready to handle challenges.

Responsibilities

• Investigate tenancy arrears to determine reasons for non-payment.
• Negotiate arrears settlements and discuss payment plans with customers; refer to specialist services as needed.
• Conduct property visits to discuss arrears and identify vulnerabilities; collaborate with other teams to deliver effective solutions.
