Job summary

YMCA Norfolk is seeking a Housing Engagement Worker to support young people and hosts in the Supported Lodgings scheme. You will develop personalised support plans, coordinate referrals, and help move-on planning.

Based at the YMCA Throckmorton Yard Hostel in Norwich, you will work 22.5 hours per week on a fixed-term contract until 28 March 2027, with a rota across core hours. A full driving licence and safeguarding knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in housing or support services with vulnerable young people.
• Strong communication and emotional resilience.
• Ability to carry out needs and risk assessments and support planning.
• Knowledge of housing legislation and safeguarding frameworks.
• A full UK driving licence with access to transport.

Responsibilities

• Support young people through personalised support plans and life skills development.
• Facilitate referrals, assessments, inductions and move-on planning.
• Promote positive activities and co-production opportunities.
• Help young people understand their rights and responsibilities in housing.
• Assist in recruiting and supporting Supported Lodgings Providers.
• Work closely with external agencies to ensure holistic support.

Position: Housing Engagement Worker

Pay: £13.90 per hour - £27,100.00 per annum pro rata

Location: YMCA Norwich Supported Lodgings

Contract Type: Fixed Term until 28th March 2027

Hours per week: 22.5 hours per week

As a Housing Engagement Worker, you’ll work directly with young people and their hosts to provide tailored support, helping residents develop essential life skills and move towards independent living. You’ll also play a key role in supporting the recruitment and development of Supported Lodgings Providers, ensuring they feel confident and equipped to offer high-quality care.

The successful candidate will be based at our YMCA Throckmorton Yard Hostel alongside our Norwich Community Housing team, and participate in a rota of shifts which will cover the core hours of 22.5 hours per week (generally worked over 3 days). Core working hours for the team are from 9.00am - 7.00pm, Monday - Saturday, over 365 days of the year.
