Job summary

YMCA Norfolk is seeking a Senior Youth Worker to lead and deliver vibrant youth work across commissioned clubs. You will supervise sessional workers, champion youth participation, and ensure inclusive, high-quality programmes.

You will mentor a team, drive attendance with creative outreach, and uphold safeguarding standards while collaborating with partners to expand provision.

Qualifications

• Experience engaging young people and delivering group activities.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to manage projects, staff rotas, and budgets.
• A commitment to inclusion and safeguarding.
• Full driving licence and access to your own transport.
• Level 6 Youth Work qualification or willingness to undertake via apprenticeship.

Responsibilities

• Leading youth club sessions up to four evenings per week across Norfolk.
• Building strong relationships with young people, empowering them to volunteer and mentor.
• Managing and supporting a team of youth engagement workers.
• Driving attendance through marketing, including social media and school visits.
• Acting as safeguarding lead for the clubs you manage.
• Working with partners to expand provision and uphold youth work standards.

Position: Senior Youth Worker
Pay: £14.96 per hour (£29,172.00 per annum)
Location: YMCA Norfolk Offices, Norwich, and various Youth Clubs across the county
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours per week: 37.5 hours

At YMCA Norfolk, we’re looking for a Senior Youth Worker to lead and deliver vibrant youth work across our commissioned youth clubs. This is a hands‑on role where you’ll lead a team of sessional workers, champion youth participation, and ensure our programmes are inclusive, engaging, and high quality.
