Job summary

Village Hotels Coventry is seeking an Assistant Housekeeping Manager to lead on the floor, supervise housekeeping teams, and assist the Housekeeping Manager in daily operations to ensure exceptional cleanliness and guest experience.

You will inspect rooms, manage shift workload, monitor productivity, control costs, handle guest requests, and ensure health and safety compliance, COSHH, and quality standards across the hotel.

The Role Outline: Your Shift at a Glance

Your focus is to actively support and work alongside the Housekeeping Manager in the day-to-day running of the housekeeping department. This is a hands-on operational leadership role, combining floor-based supervision with planning, real-time work allocation, and shift control. You will lead from the front, conducting inspections, re-checking rooms, and directly coaching the team during service to deliver exceptional cleanliness, presentation, and guest experience standards.

Your Shift: What You’ll Actually Be Doing

As our Assistant Housekeeping Manager, you are leading on the floor. We trust you to handle:

Visible Leadership: Conducting frequent inspections of guest rooms, corridors, and public areas, taking immediate corrective action to release top-quality spaces.

Real-Time Operational Control: Monitoring room status based on arrivals, adjusting daily work allocation, and tracking productivity metrics like minutes per room.

Commercial Support: Controlling operational costs by tracking linen usage, managing shift payroll hours, and keeping cleaning supplies fully stocked without waste.

Service Recovery: Handling guest requests and complaints directly, ensuring swift, professional resolutions that protect our brand reputation.

Compliance & Safety: Enforcing absolute compliance with health, safety, hygiene, and COSHH regulations, immediately correcting any unsafe practices.
