Job summary

Richmond Village Cheltenham, part of Bupa, is seeking a Housekeeping Assistant on a permanent, part-time basis with alternate weekends. The role pays £12.90 per hour and covers cleaning across residents' facilities and public areas.

You will apply infection control practices, keep spaces safe and tidy, and work as part of a friendly team to ensure residents live in a comfortable, well-maintained environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in housekeeping or domestic cleaning.
• Basic understanding of infection control and COSHH.
• Friendly and approachable; builds relationships with residents and colleagues.
• Meticulous attention to detail; commitment to safety.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high cleaning standards of care home facilities, public areas and residents' properties.
• Operate vacuum cleaners, floor polishers and carpet shampooers.
• Empty bins regularly and sweep, scrub, wax and polish floors.
• Clean carpets, upholstery, woodwork, windows and sills.
• Wash, dry and iron residents' clothing and communal laundry.
• Report safety hazards and ensure Health and Safety/COSHH compliance.

You’ll help us make health happen by:

• Ensuring that our residents’ care home facilities, public areas and individual properties are maintained to the highest cleaning standards
• Operating vacuum cleaners, floor polishers and carpet shampooers
• Emptying bins regularly
• Sweeping, scrubbing, waxing and polishing floors
• Cleaning carpets and upholstery and washing woodwork, windows, door panels and sills
• Washing, drying and ironing residents clothing, bedding and communal laundry, including for our on-site care home residents
• Reporting all safety hazards to management, ensuring Health and Safety standards and COSSH are adhered to at all times.

Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role:

• You will ideally bring experience from a housekeeping or domestic cleaning role, along with a basic understanding of infection control, COSHH, and compliance standards.
• As someone who is friendly and approachable, you will forge enduring professional relationships with colleagues, residents, and their families.
• Recognizing the importance of a safe working environment, you possess a meticulous attention to detail and take pride in your work.
• Equipped with strong communication skills, you are adept at collaborating as part of a team, across various functions and services.
