Job summary

Windyhall Care Home, part of Care Concern Group, is seeking a Housekeeping Assistant in Ayr. The role is 22 hours per week at £12.71 per hour, with PVG, pension and uniform provided, plus 5.6 weeks of annual leave. You will clean rooms, bathrooms and communal areas and assist with laundry, ensuring high hygiene standards.

You will follow infection control and health & safety procedures while supporting a warm, dignified environment for residents.

Qualifications

• Positive and reliable approach required.
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication skills with residents and colleagues.
• Understanding of hygiene and infection control is beneficial.
• Previous care or housekeeping experience is welcomed but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Clean residents' rooms, bathrooms and communal areas to a high standard of hygiene and presentation.
• Support laundry duties including washing, drying and ironing and label items.
• Follow infection control, health and safety and housekeeping procedures at all times.
• Provide a welcoming, safe and comfortable environment for residents and visitors.
• Contribute to a well organised home where residents feel respected and supported.

Housekeeping Assistant Contract

• £12.71 per hour
• Contracted to 22 hours per week
• Paid PVG, pension, uniform provided
• 5.6 weeks annual leave (based on a full time contract)

Role Overview

As Housekeeping Assistant, you will play a key role in maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming environment while also supporting laundry services. This is a varied, hands on role where your attention to detail and high standards will directly impact comfort, dignity and daily wellbeing.

You will be responsible for cleaning residents’ rooms, bathrooms and communal areas, ensuring all spaces are maintained to a high standard of hygiene and presentation. Alongside this, you will support laundry duties including washing, drying, ironing and returning clothing correctly, ensuring all items are clearly labelled and handled with care.

Working closely with the wider team, you will follow infection control, health and safety and housekeeping procedures, ensuring all tasks are carried out safely and efficiently. Your role will contribute to a well organised and comfortable environment where individuals feel respected and supported.
