Job summary

Homes for Students is recruiting a part-time Housekeeper in York to maintain high standards of cleanliness in common areas and student spaces. You will perform planned and reactive cleaning tasks across the property, including kitchens, offices and toilets, ensuring hygiene and presentation meet the company’s expectations.

The role supports a busy summer turnover and provides opportunities for training and progression.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer-focused environments is desirable.

• Willingness to undertake manual cleaning tasks and training.

Responsibilities

• Clean common areas and kitchens to a high standard to create a great first impression for residents and visitors.
• Carry out planned and reactive cleaning duties across student buildings and offices.
• Replenish consumables and maintain hygiene standards across toilet areas.
• Support summer turnover by preparing spaces for new student intake.

Homes for Students is the UK’s leading independent provider of student accommodation.

We are looking for a Housekeeper to join our team at our Raffles Hall property based in York working 12 hours per week. The role involves ensuring the common areas of the Property are cleaned to a high standard in order to provide a great first impression to our visitors and provide an excellent service to the students in residence.

You will be required to carry out planned and reactive cleaning duties in student buildings located throughout the Property, student kitchen areas, offices, communal and toilet areas including replenishing consumables to a high standard of hygiene. You will play a key role in our summer turnaround time when we say goodbye to one intake of students and prepare for the next.

Person Specification

• Previous experience of a similar role in a customer-focused environment
• Ability to contribute to targets and deliver excellent results
• Excellent communication and ability to provide an outstanding customer service
• Effective team member with a flexible approach to work and colleagues
• Ability to undertake manual work to a high standard
• Commitment to undergo further training through operational requirements and personal staff development
