Job summary

Active Care Group is hiring a Housekeeper at Park House in Bedford to join one of the UK’s largest providers in complex care. The role offers full-time days (40 hrs) or part-time days (22.5 hrs) with a pro rata salary of £26,884.93 per annum.

You’ll maintain high standards of cleanliness across residents’ bedrooms, communal and clinical areas, follow COSHH and infection prevention controls, and support a safe, dignified environment for residents while respecting privacy and personal belongings.

Qualifications

• Previous domestic, housekeeping, or cleaning experience, desirable.
• Experience in healthcare/residential care environment desirable.
• COSHH, Infection Prevention and Control, or Health and Safety training desirable.
• Willingness to complete mandatory training.
• Basic education including English and Maths.
• Experience using cleaning equipment and maintaining cleaning standards in a professional environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout Park House, including Residents’ bedrooms, communal areas, bathrooms, dining areas, offices, therapy spaces, and clinical environments.
• Carry out daily cleaning duties in accordance with cleaning schedules, infection prevention and control standards, and organisational policies and procedures.
• Complete deep cleaning tasks as directed by the Deputy Manager, Team Leaders, or Senior Team Leaders.
• Ensure cleaning equipment, materials, and machinery are used safely, appropriately, and stored securely after use.
• Follow COSHH regulations and safe handling procedures for cleaning chemicals and hazardous substances at all times.
• Adhere to infection prevention and control procedures, including correct use of PPE, colour coding systems, and safe disposal of waste.
• Maintain cleaning cupboards, storage areas, and housekeeping trolleys in a clean, organised, and fully stocked condition.
• Report maintenance concerns, environmental hazards, damaged equipment, or health and safety risks promptly to the appropriate senior staff member.
• Support the service in maintaining a safe, homely, and comfortable environment that promotes Residents’ dignity, wellbeing, and quality of life.
• Respect Residents’ privacy, dignity, choice, and personal belongings whilst carrying out duties within occupied areas.
