Job summary

Greycoat Lumleys is seeking an experienced live-out Housekeeper for a private family in Wilmslow, Cheshire. The role requires meticulous housekeeping across a large home, with the prospect of occasional travel and interaction with family offices and contractors.

Ideal candidates will have at least 3 years in a similar role, be a driver, and provide excellent references along with an Enhanced DBS check. Normal hours are Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm, with some flexibility; salary starts around

Responsibilities

• Full housekeeping duties maintaining the home to an excellent standard
• Thorough cleaning and upkeep of all areas including kitchens and bathrooms
• Dusting, hoovering, polishing and caring for high-end finishes and furnishings
• Managing laundry and ironing, including delicate fabrics and fine linens
• Making beds, general tidying and ensuring the home remains organised for a busy family
• Taking ownership of the day-to-day running and proactively identifying what needs doing
• Running household errands and assisting with ad hoc family requirements
• Receiving and unpacking grocery deliveries and keeping supplies well stocked
• Preparing the home for the family’s return from travel and organising rooms for arrival
• Working closely with other household staff and liaising with tradespeople as required
• Unpacking luggage after travel and organising wardrobes to a high standard
• Laundering, steaming and pressing garments as required
• Handling delicate couture pieces with care
• Preparing and packing luggage when required
• Potential travel with the family to UK or overseas properties in future

Live-out Housekeeper Job, Wilmslow Cheshire, £41,600+ depending on experience

Our client is seeking an experienced, proactive Housekeeper to join a busy private family household in Cheshire. This is a full-time role with responsibility for maintaining the home to an exceptional standard, overseeing its smooth day-to-day running and supporting the family with general household requirements.

The family are looking for someone who takes real ownership of the home, notices what needs doing without being asked and gets things done. They should be equally comfortable working independently and taking direction when required, with a positive, calm and can-do approach.

Key duties will include:

• Full housekeeping duties, maintaining the home to an excellent standard
• Thorough cleaning and upkeep of all areas of the home, including kitchens and bathrooms
• Dusting, hoovering, polishing and caring for high-end finishes and furnishings
• Managing laundry and ironing, including delicate fabrics and fine linens
• Making beds, general tidying and ensuring the home remains organised, comfortable and running smoothly for a busy family
• Taking ownership of the day-to-day running of the home and proactively identifying what needs doing without waiting to be asked
• Running household errands and assisting with ad hoc family requirements
• Receiving and unpacking grocery deliveries, keeping the kitchen and household supplies organised and ensuring essentials are well stocked
• Preparing the home for the family’s return from travel, including stocking the fridge, putting away groceries, refreshing rooms and ensuring everything is organised and ready for their arrival
• Working closely with other household staff and the family office where required
• Liaising with tradespeople, contractors and external suppliers, including arranging access and overseeing work within the home
• Be proactive in identifying and flagging maintenance issues and helping to ensure these are dealt with promptly
• Unpacking luggage following travel and organising wardrobes to a high standard
• Laundering, steaming and pressing garments as required
• Handling delicate, couture and valuable pieces with appropriate care
• Ensuring clothing and accessories are correctly stored and wardrobes remain meticulously organised
• Preparing and packing luggage when required
• Potential to travel with the family in the future where required, including preparing and organising UK or overseas properties ahead of the family’s arrival
• Ensuring properties are fully prepared, organised and stocked so the family can arrive and settle in seamlessly

This is a full-time, live-out role to start November 2026

Min 3 years’ experience in a similar role essential. Driver essential. Excellent referenced and Enhanced DBS check required.

Working hours are Monday to Friday, with core hours of around 9am to 5pm. Some flexibility will be required.

Salary: £41,600+ gross per annum.
