Job summary

Bradford Music & Arts Service, the lead organisation for the West Yorkshire Music Hub, is expanding its casual percussion teaching team to deliver individual and group lessons, whole class schemes, ensembles and concerts for children and young people across the Bradford district.

Lessons take place in schools and at music centres, alongside other instrumental and vocal teachers. An enhanced DBS check and a current driving licence with access to own transport are required.

Qualifications

• Ability to teach percussion to individuals and groups.
• Motivate pupils and deliver engaging sessions.
• Work as part of a team of instrumental and vocal teachers.

• Teach pupils individually and in groups, motivating them
• Deliver whole class instrumental and continuation schemes
• Tutor and direct choirs and ensembles in schools and music centres
• Take part in concerts and performances
• Monitor and assess pupils, keep records
• Advise teachers, parents and schools
• Decide when pupils enter ABRSM or other exams
• Apply new approaches in teaching
• Undertake multi-agency working and information sharing
• Work within safeguarding framework
• Share good practice and attend meetings

What the job involves

• Teach pupils individually and in groups, motivating them

• Monitor and assess pupils, give constructive feedback and keep accurate, up-to-date records
• Work as part of a team of professional instrumental and vocal teachers
• Advise teachers, parents, carers and schools
• Decide when pupils enter ABRSM, Music Medals or other examinations
• Apply new approaches in instrumental and vocal teaching
• Undertake multi-agency working and electronic information sharing
• Work within the Keeping Children Safe in Education safeguarding framework
• Share good practice and training, and attend team and service meetings
