AIM AND PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The purpose of the role is to be responsible for flexible and proactive delivery of an agreed teaching programme in Carpentry plus other related areas where required. In addition to teaching, to undertake a range of administrative and development duties that contributes to improving standards, achievements, and the learner experience.
The appointment is subject to the Conditions of Service for Academic Staff. The work pattern of a Lecturer is not necessarily linked to the traditional academic year.
All successful applicants will undergo the following checks:
You will be paid an hourly rate for every hour of work which you are required to work which is calculated to include an element to cover 'other duties' such as marking, preparation, assessment, attendance at programme area/departmental meetings which may need to be carried out outside class contact time.
Applicants are required to hold an appropriate teaching qualification or be willing to undertake and gain the Certificate in Education and Training within 2 years of their appointment. Successful applicants will be required to attend the course on-site as the College delivers the course in-house.
Please note - whilst obtaining a teaching qualification is a contractual requirement, the College reviews its CPD budget on an annual basis regarding availability of funds and cannot therefore guarantee that newly appointed staff will receive either part or full funding for the course fees. However, student loan facilities are available.
All staff are required to have a minimum level 2 qualification in both English and Maths. If you are not already in receipt of one or both of these qualifications, you will be expected to obtain it (them) during your employment at the College.

You will be working 12 hours per week, 52 weeks a year.
Working pattern: Mondays and Tuesdays.
You will be entitled to annual leave calculated as a proportion of the annual leave entitlement for a full time equivalent member of academic staff which in each holiday year (being the period from 1 August to 31 July) is 37 days plus 8 bank/public holidays and any college efficiency days.
The College operates an occupational pension scheme, namely the 'Teachers Pensions'.
All newly appointed staff must serve a 4-month probationary period. During the probationary period you will have to complete the corporate staff induction, a Teaching and Learning Induction session if you deliver learning and additional mandatory courses on: Equality & Diversity session, Keeping Children safe in Education, Safeguarding Training session, Prevent, GDPR, Cyber Security and Health & Safety training session. Failure to complete these will prevent you from successfully completing your probation.
Please note that without 2 satisfactory references being received before the end of the probationary period, new staff will not be able to successfully pass their probationary.
