South Gloucestershire Council is seeking an experienced HOTH Intervention Team Manager to provide senior leadership for a specialist intervention team supporting children and young people aged 11–18 at risk from harm outside the home.

The role focuses on coordinating specialist activity, strengthening partner responses, delivering training, and ensuring high-quality, trauma-informed practice. A full-time position with flexible working arrangements is encouraged.

Qualifications

• Hold a relevant degree or professional qualification in social care, family support, youth work or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Significant experience working with children, young people or families needing additional support and delivering evidence-based interventions.
• Experience of managing staff including reflective supervision and performance oversight.
• Experience with complex safeguarding and adolescent practice including contextual risk and trauma-informed approaches.
• Ability to lead teams, build partner relationships and communicate confidently with families and professionals.
• Strong report writing skills and ability to use performance data for service improvement.

How you'll make a difference

South Gloucestershire’s children’s social care service is rated Good by Ofsted, and we are committed to maintaining and building on this strong foundation. As HOTH Intervention Team Manager, you will provide senior practice leadership for a specialist intervention team supporting children and young people aged 11–18 who are experiencing, or are at risk from, harm outside the home.

You will lead a team delivering specialist interventions, consultation, mapping and community-based responses to contextual safeguarding concerns, including criminal and sexual exploitation, peer-on-peer harm, serious youth violence and online harm. Through your leadership, you will help ensure risks are identified, understood and responded to through contextual safeguarding, trauma-informed and child-centred approaches.

What you will be doing

You will lead and manage Senior HOTH Support Workers and HOTH Support Workers, providing line management, reflective supervision, performance oversight and specialist practice guidance.

This is a specialist leadership role where you will oversee time-limited interventions, provide consultation and formulation support, contribute to workforce upskilling and work closely with partners to reduce risk outside the home and prevent escalation wherever possible.

With your leadership, you will:

• Coordinate specialist activity across the team, including consultation, mapping, group work and preventative responses to emerging contextual safeguarding themes.
• Work with partners such as schools, police, the Violence Reduction Partnership and the Risk Tactical Group to strengthen local responses to risks outside the home.
• Support workforce development by sharing learning, delivering training and helping practitioners apply contextual safeguarding and trauma-informed approaches.
• Monitor quality, performance, outcomes and resource use so children and young people receive timely, safe and effective intervention.

What we need from you

• We require you to hold a relevant degree or professional qualification, such as social care, family support, youth work or a related field, or have equivalent experience.
• You will have significant relevant experience of working with children, young people or families requiring additional support, including delivery of evidence-based interventions with vulnerable children and families.
• You will have experience of managing staff, including reflective supervision, performance oversight and practice development.
• You will have experience of complex safeguarding and adolescent practice, including contextual risk, trauma-informed practice and relevant legislation, regulations and procedures.
• You will be able to lead teams to deliver strong performance, build effective partner relationships and communicate confidently in meetings with families and professionals.
• You will have good report writing skills and be confident using performance, quality and practice information to support decision-making, service improvement and quality assurance.

What you need to know

• Please note that due to the nature of this role, it is a requirement of employment that an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is obtained.
• You will be expected to travel throughout the authority and surrounding area, including homes, schools, youth centres, police and partner premises, so you must have a full, valid driving licence with regular access to a vehicle insured for business use or have an alternative suitable means of travel.
