Job summary

Kew Green Hotels is seeking a practical Maintenance Assistant to support upkeep across guest rooms, public areas and back‑of‑house spaces. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will perform basic plumbing, carpentry, painting and electrical tasks, carry out safety checks, and support preventative programmes to keep equipment in good order.

This hands-on role requires initiative, the ability to work independently and a customer‑focused approach to maintain a high standard of guest experience.

Qualifications

• Experience in a maintenance or hands-on role (or a willingness to learn).
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, decorating or repairs.
• Proactive and practical approach to problem-solving.
• Ability to work independently.
• Strong communication skills and a professional attitude.
• Commitment to health, safety and compliance standards.
• Flexible to respond to changing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out a range of maintenance tasks including basic plumbing, carpentry, painting, decorating and minor electrical work.
• Responding promptly to maintenance issues across guest rooms, public areas and back-of-house spaces.
• Supporting preventative maintenance programmes to ensure equipment and facilities remain in good working order.
• Conducting regular safety checks, including fire alarm testing and compliance checks.
• Identifying and escalating any safety risks or defects promptly.
• Working collaboratively with all departments to support smooth hotel operations.
