Job summary

Novotel Coventry is seeking a professional Chef to join our kitchen team and ensure breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and snacks are prepared to the highest standards. You will work closely with the Head Chef to maintain brand standards, food safety, and cost control.

Ideally you have hotel/restaurant kitchen experience, strong knowledge of food hygiene, and the ability to perform well under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and teamwork skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Previous hotel/restaurant chef experience.
• Strong knowledge of food hygiene and safety regulations.
• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast‑paced kitchen.
• Good communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack menus to agreed standards.
• Ensure all food preparation and service meets the specifications set by the Head Chef and management.
• Maintain strict food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards at all times.
• Prepare orders accurately in line with recipes, instructions, and checks.
• Adhere to portion control procedures and report any wastage to the senior chef on duty.
• Ensure correct storage of food items, following company policies on stock rotation, segregation, and day-dotting.
• Complete daily temperature checks for fridges and freezers as required.
• Receive, check, and store deliveries correctly within designated timeframes.
• Maintain clear communication with front-of-house and other hotel departments during service.
• Report any maintenance issues, equipment faults, or accidents immediately.
