Hospitality Supervisor Apprentice (Level 3)

This is a fixed-term contract for 18 months (duration of the apprenticeship).

Apprenticeship pay rates vary depending on age. The applicable rates are:

  • Under 18 years - £15,144 per annum
  • 18-20 years - £19,871 per annum
  • 21+ years - £23,555 per annum

We are seeking a Hospitality Supervisor Apprentice to work closely with the Restaurant & Commercial Events Manager. Your responsibilities will include managing the student café service to a high standard, assisting in food and snack preparation, delivering excellent customer service, and maintaining cleanliness in restaurant areas.

What You Will Do
  • Assist the Restaurant & Commercial Events Manager in the efficient operation of the catering service, adhering to service standards and financial regulations.
  • Coordinate team efforts to meet customer needs in line with business and brand standards, enhancing customer experience.
  • Assist in training and supervising catering staff and student casuals.
  • Monitor team adherence to processes and procedures according to standards.
  • Maintain a helpful attitude towards customers, acquire knowledge of food items, and ensure service areas are clean and stocked.
  • Support the operation of bars and catering for events and functions.
  • Operate EPOS tills, including cash handling.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety requirements and maintain accurate due diligence records.
About You
  • Up-to-date knowledge of catering and hospitality.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment; supervisory experience in bar and/or catering environments is desirable.
  • Ability to organize and oversee team activities.
  • Knowledge of food hygiene systems and record keeping.
  • Experience using tills and handling cash and credit cards.
  • Initiative and ability to upsell products.
  • Effective communication skills with team members and customers.
