Job summary

Bournemouth & Poole College is seeking a Stores Technician for its Hospitality & Catering team at our state-of-the-art Escoffier facilities in the Compass Building. The role focuses on ensuring the smooth flow of ingredients, equipment and resources to support learning, assessments, events and customer service.

You will manage stock, procure items, maintain records and support lecturers, chefs and students with hospitality resources while upholding safety and compliance standards.

Qualifications

• Level 2 English and Maths (or equivalent).
• Level 2 Catering qualification or equivalent industry experience.
• Strong knowledge of professional food production, kitchen operations and food safety practices.
• Experience of stock control, procurement, logistics or stores management within hospitality, catering or food production.
• Excellent organisational and planning skills with great attention to detail.
• Strong IT and digital skills, including stock management systems.
• Ability to build positive relationships with colleagues, students and suppliers.
• Proactive, adaptable and solution-focused approach.
• Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Managing stock levels, ordering, deliveries and inventory control across hospitality and catering facilities
• Ensuring ingredients, equipment and resources are available to support teaching, assessments, restaurant service and events
• Maintaining robust stock control systems and accurate purchasing records
• Developing effective relationships with suppliers to secure quality products and value for money
• Supporting lecturers, chefs and students with specialist hospitality resources and operational requirements
• Coordinating resources for competitions, employer-led activities, demonstrations, masterclasses and commercial events
• Monitoring food safety, allergen management, HACCP compliance and environmental health standards
• Managing the maintenance, servicing and operational readiness of specialist catering equipment
• Identifying opportunities to reduce waste, improve sustainability and maximise efficiency
• Contributing to outstanding learning environments that reflect current industry practice
