Sherborne School in Dorset is seeking an experienced Hospitality Manager to lead the school’s high‑quality hospitality and events operation. You will manage a front‑of‑house team, ensure outstanding service, and work closely with the school and catering operation to deliver memorable experiences.

This hands‑on role requires leadership during services and events, strong organisational and cost‑control skills, and a commitment to safety and quality in a prestigious independent school environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and develop the hospitality/front-of-house team
• Oversee day-to-day hospitality operations and maintain high service standards
• Plan and deliver hospitality, functions and events across the school
• Manage staffing, rotas and service requirements for smooth operations
• Work with the school and catering teams to understand requirements and deliver exceptional service
• Ensure all hospitality services meet safety, health and licensing requirements
• Maintain presentation, service and cost control while driving improvements
• Support the wider catering team during busy periods and major events
• Lead by example during services and events

We are now recruiting for an experienced Hospitality Manager to join the team at Sherborne School, a prestigious independent school in Dorset.

This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on hospitality professional to lead the delivery of high-quality hospitality and events across the school. You will be responsible for ensuring consistently excellent service, managing a front-of-house team and working closely with the school and wider catering operation.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Leading, motivating and developing the hospitality and front-of-house team
• Managing the day-to-day hospitality operation and ensuring consistently high service standards
• Planning and delivering hospitality, functions and events across the school
• Managing staffing, rotas and service requirements to ensure smooth and efficient operations
• Working closely with the school, clients and internal teams to understand requirements and deliver an exceptional service
• Ensuring all hospitality services meet company, client, Food Safety, Health & Safety and licensing requirements
• Maintaining high standards of presentation, service and professionalism
• Managing stock, resources and operational costs effectively
• Identifying opportunities to improve the hospitality offer and customer experience
• Supporting the wider catering team during busy periods and major school events
• Taking a hands-on approach and leading by example during services and events

Who You Are

• An experienced Hospitality Manager with a proven background in hospitality, events or contract catering
• Confident leading and developing a front-of-house team
• Passionate about delivering outstanding customer service and high standards
• Experienced managing busy hospitality services, functions and events
• Highly organised with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Commercially aware with an understanding of costs, budgets and resource management
• Calm and professional when working under pressure
• Customer-focused with strong attention to detail
• Flexible and able to work 5 days out of 7, including evenings and weekends when required
• Comfortable working within a prestigious independent school environment
• A hands-on leader who is happy to be involved in service delivery
