Job summary

BaxterStorey is seeking a General Assistant for a 25-hour week based at Shawfarm Industrial Estate, Prestwick. The role runs Monday to Friday from 08:30 to 13:30, with the potential to support catering operations and daily frontline service.

You will assist with food preparation, service, and stock management, while maintaining high standards of hygiene and customer care. The position includes training and development opportunities and a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a hospitality, catering, or food service environment (desirable).
• Knowledge of food hygiene and safety practices, or willingness to obtain relevant certification
• Strong people skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team
• Excellent time keeping and reliability
• Physical stamina to work on your feet for extended periods
• Basic numeracy skills for handling cash and stock management
• Flexibility to work varied shift patterns, including weekends and bank holidays
• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues and customers
• Willingness to learn and develop within a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

• Assist with food preparation, plating, and presentation in accordance with company standards
• Support kitchen and service teams during busy periods with flexibility
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of work areas, washing up and stock rotation
• Serve customers in a friendly and professional manner, take orders
• Handle basic cash transactions and till operations accurately
• Support inventory management and deliveries, check stock levels
• Comply with food hygiene and health and safety procedures at all times
• Communicate effectively with team members to ensure seamless service
• Drive to round sites to fill vending machines and count stock
