Job summary

Sodexo is recruiting a Hospitality Assistant for our site in Aylesbury, supporting the Mess and delivering high-quality service to military personnel. You will help run day-to-day dining operations, assist with food preparation, serving and keeping areas clean and welcoming.

Ideal candidates have experience in hospitality or catering, strong communication skills, and a desire to work in a supportive team. The role offers full-time hours with consistent shifts and a focus on work‑life balance.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and presentation across dining areas.
• Assist with food, refreshment and function services, including prep and supporting other units.
• Provide excellent customer service and build positive relationships with customers and colleagues.
• Safely use and store equipment, monitor stock, and report defects or safety issues.
• Support deliveries, stock checks and place replacement orders as required.

Join Sodexo as a Hospitality Assistant at our site in Aylesbury, where you'll be part of a professional team supporting the smooth running of the Mess and providing a high-quality service to military personnel.

In this role, you'll help with the day-to-day running of the Mess, including preparing and serving food and refreshments, clearing and cleaning tables, washing up and keeping dining and service areas clean, tidy and welcoming.

You’ll work as part of a supportive team, helping to ensure that service runs smoothly and that everyone receives a friendly and professional experience.

Whether you already have experience in hospitality, catering or a similar customer-facing environment, or you’re looking to develop your skills within a large organisation, we’d love to hear from you.

What you’ll do:

• Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and presentation across the dining room and associated areas, including delivery transport, following cleaning schedules and safe working practices.
• Assist with food, refreshment and function services, including preparation and supporting other units when required.
• Provide excellent customer service and maintain positive relationships with customers, clients and colleagues through effective communication.
• Safely use, store and control equipment, machinery, cleaning materials, chemicals, stock and other resources, reporting any defects, accidents, near misses or discrepancies promptly.
• Support the smooth running of the service by checking deliveries, monitoring stock and placing replacement orders as required, attending training and completing any other reasonable duties as directed by management.

What you bring:

• Previous experience in catering, hospitality or a similar role.
• Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work well as part of a team and independently.
• Good attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards.
• Full clean driving licence.
• Knowledge of food safety and health & safety is desirable, along with experience in a military environment, leadership skills and basic Microsoft Office knowledge.
