Job summary

Houston & Hawkes in Camden is seeking a General Assistant to split time between our busy coffee bar and the kitchen. You will deliver great coffee, assist with fresh food preparation, and keep service running smoothly in a contemporary setting.

You will move between front-of-house and kitchen duties, bringing a positive attitude, strong communication, and willingness to learn. Training is provided for barista tasks and safety practices.

Qualifications

• Hospitality, catering or customer service experience welcome; attitude and willingness to learn matter.
• Barista experience is an advantage, with full training provided.

Responsibilities

• Create a warm, welcoming experience for every customer with friendly, attentive service.
• Assist barista during busy periods, take orders, serve food/drinks, till work, and make espresso-based coffees.
• Keep the coffee bar, counters, and displays well-presented, stocked, and ready for service.
• Work with the chef on daily food prep, washing, chopping, portioning, and assembling ingredients.
• Wash up, clean pots and equipment; maintain a safe, organized kitchen and wash-up area.
• Receive deliveries, replenish supplies, rotate stock, and minimise food waste.
• Support front of house and kitchen as demand changes, especially during busy times.
• Maintain high standards of food safety, allergen awareness, cleanliness and health and safety.
