Job Summary

6 Months Fixed Term at Manchester Centre. We are seeking an operational manager to take on a key leadership role, overseeing the stock control, validation, and dispatch of blood and blood components to hospitals and NHSBT sites within our service area.

Main Duties

1. Manage overall stock control and dispatch of blood and components to hospital and NHSBT sites in the area.
2. Ensure units are validated efficiently to maximize stock availability.
3. Align policy, practice, and service development with national strategies.
4. Manage and develop Hospital Services (HS) staff, including recruitment, appraisals, and performance management.
5. Serve as departmental Budget Holder.
6. Collaborate with Regional and National Hospital Services Teams and other managers to develop strategies.
7. Coordinate cross-directorate liaison regarding HS.
8. Act as Duty Hospital Services Manager and deputize for the Regional HS Manager.
9. Travel as required, including working irregular hours, overnight stays, and participating in an out-of-hours on-call rota.
