Job summary

Pinehill Hospital in Hitchin is seeking a reliable Porter to join our Facilities team on a part-time basis. You will support patients, clinical teams and departments to ensure smooth day-to-day operations and deliver an outstanding service.

The role involves patient transfers, wheeled mobility support, waste handling and deliveries, with opportunities to assist across departments. A full UK driving licence and flexible, team-focused attitude are essential.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Able to perform manual handling safely.
• Works well in a busy team.
• Reliable, flexible and willing to support multiple departments.
• Holds a full UK driving licence and comfortable with driving for deliveries/collections.

Responsibilities

• Safe transfer of patients to and from theatres, wards and departments.
• Transport of wheelchairs between departments and car parks.
• Move laundry, waste and clinical waste throughout the hospital.
• Daily transfer, replacement and monitoring of medical gas cylinders.
• Deliveries and collections to external sites and locations.
• Assist with furniture moves and porterage duties as needed.
• Support housekeeping to keep areas safe and tidy.
• Provide a professional, courteous service to patients, visitors and colleagues.
