Job summary

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust in Basildon is seeking a General Porter to join our Portering team at Basildon Hospital. The role focuses on providing a high-quality, timely portering service across the site, handling patients, specimens and equipment with respect and dignity.

The position involves emergency responses, adherence to Trust procedures, and maintaining transport equipment while supporting colleagues and departments.

Qualifications

• Good level of general education.
• Customer care training/awareness.

Responsibilities

• Provide an efficient portering service meeting the work schedules and ad hoc response times, including emergency responses.
• Transport patients, specimens, goods, blood products, medical gases and equipment around the site.
• Move deceased patients to the Mortuary and prepare them for viewing out of hours as required.
• Keep transport equipment clean and report defects promptly to ensure quick rectification.
