Job summary

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a General Porter to support Basildon Hospital across various shift patterns, including nights, weekends and evenings. The role involves transporting patients, specimens, goods, and equipment, with duties across multiple wards and departments.

Qualifications

• Good general education level.
• Customer care training/awareness.
• Experience of working with the general public.

Responsibilities

• Provide efficient high-quality portering services, including transporting patients and equipment.
• Respond to emergencies and urgent tasks per Trust procedures.
• Keep transport equipment clean and report defects quickly.
• Move deceased patients to the Mortuary and prepare for viewing as required.
• Ensure dignity, privacy and confidentiality in all duties.
