The NHS is seeking Porters and Drivers for the new Bristol Surgical Centre. Responsibilities include patient movement, cleaning equipment, and supporting hospital operations. Candidates must possess a full, clean UK driving license and demonstrate strong customer care skills. This role requires physical stamina and the ability to work effectively in a team.
We have a number of new Porter and Driver opportunities available due to the opening of the new Bristol Surgical Centre building on the Southmead Hospital site.
You will work as part of the operational team responsible for providing a comprehensive patient support service in the hospital environment. This will involve carrying out the following Facilities Management functions:
A full, clean, manual UK driving license is required for this role.
To provide a high-quality, responsive, efficient, and effective patient support service to wards and departments in North Bristol NHS Trust, acting in a caring and professional manner.

Physical Effort
Duties involve standing/walking for long periods and undertaking physically demanding tasks, such as moving cages weighing approximately 300kg when required.
Mental Effort
Being aware of health and safety implications, ensuring equipment is stored properly, maintaining confidentiality, and working to changing schedules.
Emotional Effort
Dealing with distressing sights of very ill or end-of-life patients, witnessing traumatic injuries, and interacting sensitively with stressed or confrontational individuals, including those under the influence of alcohol.
