Job summary

Northern Health & Social Care Trust in Antrim Hospital is seeking a Pharmacy Technician (Band 4) to join the Pharmacy Directorate. You will work under supervision of Specialist/Lead Technicians and Pharmacists across service areas.

Key duties include ward orders, dispensing, stock management and attending audits; you will develop competencies and participate in Medicines Management schemes while upholding HSC values.

Qualifications

• Experience or qualification in hospital pharmacy services.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work in a multidisciplinary team.
• Computer literacy and familiarity with pharmacy information systems.
• Knowledge of current HSC/N.I. pharmacy practices and hospital pharmacy.
• Evidence of commitment, reliability and initiative.

Responsibilities

• Issue, assemble and check ward orders and bulk issue lists to wards.
• Dispense discharge medications and outpatient prescriptions using the pharmacy computer system.
• Carry out breaking packs and pre-packing of medicines when required.
• Prepare extemporaneous preparations following formulation procedures.
• Participate in stock management, audits and returns across departments.
