Job summary

SpaMedica is the UK’s largest provider of NHS cataract surgery and invites applications for a Hospital Optometrist based in Swansea. The role includes pre/post operative cataract assessments, involvement in YAG laser referrals, and a supportive team of 150 hospital optometrists.

Training is provided, with opportunities to develop in Medical Retina and Glaucoma. Full training and senior optometrist support are provided, with travel within the region as needed and a rota including

Qualifications

• Qualified optometrist with current GOC registration.
• Ability to learn and develop skills with on‑the‑job training.
• Willingness to travel within the region as required.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre and post operative assessments for cataract surgery patients.
• Conduct pre‑op assessments for YAG laser referrals.
• Obtain informed consent in a professional manner.
• Participate in on‑call and weekend rota as needed.
• Ensure clinic areas and equipment are prepared and maintained.
