Job summary

SpaMedica is the UK\'s largest NHS cataract surgery provider and is seeking a Hospital Optometrist for a 12 Month Fixed Term Contract (Maternity Leave Cover) in Wakefield. The role focuses on patient care with full training and senior optometrist support, across Pre-op, Post-op and YAG laser settings.

Emphasis on ongoing development within a 150-strong optometrist team. Hours are 37.5 per week with some Saturdays and on-call duties included; options for occasional home working are noted.

Qualifications

• Current GOC-registered optometrist required.
• Willingness to travel region as needed.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre- and post-operative assessments for cataract patients.
• Conduct pre-op assessments for YAG laser referrals.
• Obtain informed consent professionally and ethically.
• Participate in on-call and weekend rota as needed.
• Ensure clinical area readiness and equipment checks.
• Complete basic life support and manual handling training.
• Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team in daily clinic operations.
