Job summary

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is seeking a Facilities Assistant in Domestic Services to join our Cleanliness Services Team. The role covers hospital cleanliness, patient and staff support, and involvement with catering and portering as required.

You will work across satellite sites in the Shrewsbury area, with shifts including early, late and night, and there is an option for weekend-only working. Full training is provided to new staff.

Qualifications

• NVQ in Housekeeping or Industrial Cleaning.
• Proven relevant experience of cleaning in a healthcare setting.
• Knowledge of infection prevention and control.
• Knowledge of cleaning products and COSHH.

Responsibilities

• The role is multi-skilled, working across Cleanliness, Catering and Portering to support hospital services.
• Staff will work shifts including early, late, night and weekend hours as part of a rota.
• Duties include cleaning hospital areas, transporting patients and equipment, and helping with food service for patients, staff and visitors.
• Team members must follow health and safety rules, infection control procedures and food hygiene standards.
• The job involves physical tasks such as lifting, moving equipment and walking long distances.
• Staff will also provide support in emergencies and assist patients, visitors and clinical teams when needed.
