Job summary

Barnsley Hospice in the UK is seeking a Bank Doctor to join the Hospice Medical Team. You will provide medical care to inpatients and offer palliative care guidance to clinicians, patients and families.

The role includes a non-resident weekend rota with daytime on-site hours and on-call cover. You will work with Consultants and the multidisciplinary team, review patients, and support Pallcall and community services.

Qualifications

• Must hold Full GMC registration.
• MRCP, MRCGP or equivalent (desirable).
• Experience in independent palliative care work.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Computer literacy and ability to use medical records systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide medical input to the multidisciplinary team for Barnsley Hospice patients.
• Review inpatients and provide appropriate medical care.
• See patients in different settings as required (inpatient/day centre/outpatient).
• Keep accurate records using the electronic patient record.
• Participate in non-resident weekend rota and on-call duties.
• Provide on-call medical cover during evenings and overnight as required.
• Return to the Hospice for face-to-face reviews when needed.
• Provide palliative care telephone advice to professionals and families.
