Job summary

St Peter & St James Hospice is seeking a caring Healthcare Assistant to support the inpatient ward team in delivering compassionate, person-centred palliative care. You will assist Registered Nurses, help with personal care, meals and mobility, and contribute to a safe, respectful ward environment.

The role involves working within a multidisciplinary team, maintaining records and providing emotional support to patients and families.

Qualifications

• Experience working in a healthcare setting and with multidisciplinary teams.
• Willingness to study for Care Certificate/NVQ Level 2 or 3.
• Understanding of the Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR.
• DBS check required prior to appointment.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality personal care under the guidance of Registered Nurses.
• Support patients with meals, hydration and mobility.
• Monitor and report changes in patients' condition to the nursing team.
• Maintain accurate patient records and contribute to care evaluations.
• Offer emotional support to patients and families.
