Job summary

Royal Horticultural Society's RHS Garden Rosemoor invites applications for a Nursery and Propagation team member. You will care for and cultivate plants across our nursery, supporting the alpine collection and new display projects, while guiding apprentices and volunteers.

You will provide high-quality customer service to visitors, deliver walks and talks, and work as part of a team to develop the garden further and safeguard historic collections for the future.

Qualifications

Overview of the Role

RHS Garden Rosemoor is an enchanting garden set in the beautiful Torridge Valley, designed to provide year-round interest and inspiration to all gardeners and garden lovers.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Nursery and Propagation team at the heart of RHS Garden Rosemoor, helping to grow the many thousands of plants that bring the garden to life each year. It is a varied and rewarding role, working with an exceptional range of plants and propagation techniques, from tender perennials to woody ornamentals and everything in between. You will play an important part in supporting the 65-acre garden and surrounding woodlands, while helping to safeguard historic collections for the future. With modern growing facilities and a nursery that underpins the whole garden operation, this is a chance to contribute to one of Rosemoor's most vital and inspiring areas. The role also includes caring for and cultivating our alpine collection at an especially exciting time, as we begin work on a new alpine display glasshouse and landscape in the formal gardens, a project you will be closely involved in.

You will be responsible for the care, cultivation and maintenance of areas within our Nursery section, helping to further develop and enhance the garden with various new and exciting projects. You will provide guidance to apprentices, professional work placement students and volunteers and helping to deliver outstanding customer service to our visitors. You should have a good general knowledge of growing and propagating plants along with the ability to lead or work as part of a team. Once settled in the team to have the confidence to deliver walks and talks engaging with our visitors.

You should hold an RHS Level 2 Certificate in Horticulture or equivalent and be familiar with a range of standard horticulture techniques, with proven practical experience in horticulture, which may be acceptable in lieu of a formal qualification.
