Job summary

The University of Oxford’s Mathematical Institute invites applications for postdoctoral researchers to join the Hooke/Titchmarsh Research Fellowship scheme. The fellowship is full-time, fixed-term for up to 36 months, with scope for job shares or part-time arrangements.

Applicants should hold a PhD in mathematics or a related discipline and demonstrate a strong research record in complex systems, random matrix theory, and statistical mechanics. Teaching up to three hours per week is required.

Qualifications

• PhD in mathematics or related discipline completed or near completion.
• Evidence of independence and ability to conduct high-quality research.
• Strong publication record in major international journals.
• Ability to develop a compelling research plan aligned with Mathematical Institute strengths.
• Willingness to contribute teaching up to three hours per week for 24 weeks per academic year.

Responsibilities

• Conduct independent research in complex systems, including Random Matrix Theory and Statistical Mechanics.
• Develop and pursue an independent research program within the Hooke/Titchmarsh framework.
• Contribute to teaching up to three hours per week during each academic year.
