Worcester City Council’s Housing & Homelessness Service is seeking an enthusiastic Homelessness Project Officer to drive projects that prevent homelessness and improve outcomes for people at risk of homelessness in Worcester.
You will lead on service development, data-informed decision making, and partnership work with statutory and voluntary sectors to deliver against strategic objectives.
Following the award of specialist government funding, we have created several new roles within our Housing & Homelessness Service to deliver our ambitious plans to prevent homelessness, reduce rough sleeping and protect vulnerable tenants. These newly created roles offer an exciting opportunity to make the role your own and help shape how the service is delivered from day one.
Worcester City Council's Housing & Homelessness Service is committed to supporting individuals and families experiencing homelessness or at risk of losing their home. We provide a wide range of support, both in-house and through strong partnerships, to help our customers achieve stable and secure housing.
Prevention is at the heart of our approach—we work proactively to help people remain in their homes or move to more suitable accommodation before reaching crisis point. In recent years, we have made significant improvements to our temporary accommodation, enhanced the support we offer, and focused on improving the overall customer experience. We are proud of the high-quality, person-centred service we deliver.
We are a large, dynamic service made up of five teams delivering a broad range of housing functions (see structure chart for more detail).
We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Homelessness Project Officer to help shape and deliver services to make homelessness rare, brief and non-recurring across Worcester City. Working as part of our Housing and Homelessness Service, you will lead on a range of projects aimed at improving outcomes for people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, particularly those facing multiple disadvantage. You will work closely with statutory and voluntary sector partners, government advisors and internal colleagues to develop new services, strengthen prevention pathways and ensure our work is informed by evidence, data and lived experience.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys a varied role combining project management, service development, partnership working and performance analysis. You will contribute to strategic planning, identify and secure funding opportunities, monitor commissioned services, and use data and insight to drive continuous improvement. The successful candidate will be confident working independently, building strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, and translating complex information into practical solutions that improve services for residents.
You will be an experienced Housing professional, with strong analytical skills; a strategic thinker and problem solver, with a passion and commitment to driving improvements and an organised, thorough approach.
