Job summary

The Housing Services Department is seeking a dedicated Homelessness Case Officer to help people secure and sustain housing solutions. You will work directly with individuals in housing need, manage a varied caseload with sensitivity, and communicate clearly with customers and partners.

A DBS check is required, with offers conditional on satisfactory clearance. Candidates should have housing experience, IT literacy, and be able to navigate integrated housing systems while upholding equality

• 1 year of housing experience or more in housing need contexts.
• Experience dealing with people in Housing Need.
• IT literate and able to use integrated housing systems.

• Emotional resilience for sensitive, complex cases.

Job description

The Housing Services Department are seeking a dedicated and proactive Homelessness Case Officer to join our team. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in people's lives by helping them secure and sustain suitable housing solutions.

We're looking for someone who is confident working directly with people in housing need and able to manage a varied caseload with sensitivity and professionalism. You will be someone who communicates clearly, works well under pressure, and builds trust with customers and partners alike. A good understanding of housing and homelessness legislation is important, along with the ability to make fair decisions, work independently, and handle complex situations with empathy. This role will require a Basic Disclosure and Barring Service check (known as a DBS check). All offers of employment will be made conditional upon receipt of the satisfactory DBS check.

We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate:

• Previous housing experience - 1year
• Experience of dealing with people in Housing Need
• IT literate
• Experience of integrated housing systems
• Previous experience of working with vulnerable people
• Must be able to recognise discrimination in its many forms and willing to put the Council's Equality Policies into practice
• Commitment to social inclusion and tackling barriers to access

Given the nature of the service, emotional resilience is essential, as you will be managing sensitive and complex situations involving housing and safeguarding. You must hold GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English (grades 4-9/A<li>-C) and have a flexible, team-focused approach to service delivery. A full driving licence is also required for this post.
