Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a Home Tutor in Birmingham to create, plan and deliver tailored 1:1 lessons to bridge gaps in a pupil's education while boosting engagement, confidence and attainment. This role suits an experienced teacher looking for flexible, personalised work outside the traditional classroom.

It is part-time, temporary contract with up to 15 hours per week per student, starting ASAP and paid at a minimum of £22 per hour.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • UK classroom teaching experience.
  • Creative, patient and able to think outside the box.
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND or those disengaged from education.

Home Tutor - Birmingham

As a Home Tutor, you will create, plan and deliver tailored 1:1 lessons to help bridge gaps in a pupil's education while boosting engagement, confidence and attainment. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced teacher looking to step away from the traditional classroom and provide more personalised, rewarding learning experiences.

Many of the pupils you will support have been out of education for some time, meaning confidence and motivation can be low. Your role will be to re-engage pupils in learning, rebuild their confidence, and provide structure within their daily routine.

Prospero Teaching will work closely with you to monitor each pupil's progress and provide ongoing support throughout your placement.

Contract/Position Details:
  • Location: Within the community or pupil's home in Birmingham
  • Position: 1:1 Home Tutor
  • Type of work: Contract
  • Start date: ASAP
  • Duration: Until the pupil can reintegrate into a new school placement
  • End date (if applicable): Ongoing
  • Contract type: Temporary
  • Hours: Part-time (up to 15 hours per week, per student)
  • Minimum rate of pay: 22+ per hour
  • Working hours: Flexible and arranged around the family's availability
Experience, Training and Qualifications:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • UK classroom teaching experience
  • Creative, patient and able to think outside the box
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND or those who are disengaged from education
To be eligible for this role,
  • Hold the right to work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced Child Barred List DBS certificate registered with the Update Service, or be willing to process a new application
