Job summary

Silverchain Newport seeks caring Home Care Workers to help older adults stay in their homes. You will provide in-home support and companionship, making beds, cleaning, laundry, meal prep, and transportation to activities.

The role emphasizes building relationships with clients and families, independence, and daily problem-solving. Casual with potential for permanent part-time, with access to training and development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Valid Australian Driver's Licence and own insured vehicle.
• Interest in community/aged care; experience preferred but not essential.
• Willingness to work independently and problem-solve with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Washing, folding and ironing laundry.

• Can build positive relationships with clients and their families.
• Care about assisting our aged community members to live independently at home for longer.
• Don’t sweat the small stuff. Sometimes your client will be having a bad day or traffic delays you, but you know not to take this personally and can shake it off before your next client.
• Are comfortable working independently and finding solutions to everyday problems, knowing when to ask your manager for help.

In addition, you will need:

• A valid Australian Driver's Licence & your own insured, roadworthy vehicle
• An interest in community care or aged care (experience preferred but not essential).

The role

In the role of Home Care Worker you will be providing our aged care clients with home help services, such as:

• General housekeeping and making beds
• Cleaning, mopping and vacuuming floors
• Washing, folding and ironing laundry
• Meal preparation and grocery shopping
• Providing social support and transport to lifestyle activities
• Helping the family carer to have a break or an opportunity to do other things.
