JOB PURPOSE

Comfort, Persil, Omo, Cif, Domestos are amongst the world’s most recognizable Home Care brands developed by Unilever’s Global Development Centre in the Northwest. This role offers an exciting opportunity to be part of the HC R&D team that collaborates closely with Marketing, Procurement, and Supply Chain to deliver innovative product solutions globally.

Within this team, a permanent position is open for a colloid scientist to join the Fabric Enhancers team at our world-class R&D Centre in Port Sunlight.

We seek an inquisitive and passionate colloid formulation scientist to develop a portfolio of innovative products that delight consumers. The role involves driving new technologies and formulations for Fabric Enhancers to create superior and sustainable products for our core global brand, Comfort. Additionally, you will develop new formulation capabilities, including automated performance assessments and digital modelling approaches.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Translate consumer and business needs into ideas for new technologies and products.
• Collaborate with partners such as suppliers and academia to identify, assess, and develop new technologies.
• Lead the development and formulation of new products, including performance and stability assessments across formats.
• Develop digital and automated capabilities for Fabric Enhancers and support digitisation of product development.

ALL ABOUT YOU

We seek individuals with the right attitude, mindset, and competencies. Experience in Home or Personal Care formulation roles is advantageous but not essential.

• Degree (or equivalent) in Chemistry or a related field.
• Strong laboratory formulation expertise, preferably in polymers, surfactants, colloid science, and rheology, with a good understanding of DoE.
• A creative, logical, and analytical mindset with the ability to drive work forward.
• Experience applying digital and automation approaches.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and work independently or in teams.
• Good planning, organisational, and communication skills.
