Red Rose Care in Preston is seeking a Home Care Assistant for mornings and evenings, driving between visits and supporting clients in their own homes. You’ll help with personal care, meals, medication and daily tasks, building trusted relationships.

With guaranteed hours ranging from 10 to 20 per week or zero hours if preferred, this role offers a supportive induction, DBS processing and progression into senior positions as you grow with the team.

• No prior care experience required; full induction and shadowing provided.

Home Care Assistant – Preston – Mornings & Evenings - Drivers Only

Your new workplace

Paid travel time, plus 45p a mile. You'll spend a good part of each shift driving between visits, and we pay you for that time as well as the time you're with people. If you've worked in domiciliary care before, you'll know what that's worth.

Mornings and evenings. The middle of the day is yours.

This round runs mornings from 7am and evenings through to around 10:30pm, with the day in between free. If you've got a school run, a course, another job, or you simply don't want your whole day taken up, that pattern is the point of this role rather than a compromise.

What you'd be doing

Visiting several people's homes across Preston, driving between them rather than working on one site. Helping them wash and dress, supporting them with toileting and continence care, preparing meals and drinks, giving medication, and lending a hand around the house. Much of it is the relationship: being a familiar face who knows how someone likes things done.

Personal care is a real part of nearly every visit. Plenty of people find that daunting before they've done it, most of our team did, and you'll have training and shadowing until you're confident.

What you'd earn

• £12.80 to £13.16 an hour, depending on the time of day you're working
• Paid travel time between every visit
• 45p per mile

• Guaranteed hours contracts from 10 to 20 hours a week, or zero hours if you'd rather stay flexible
• Alternate weekends – both days every other week, or every Saturday, or every Sunday, whichever suits you best

No experience? Genuinely not a problem

Most of our team came into care from something else entirely: retail, hospitality, warehouse work, raising a family. You'll get a full induction, you'll shadow experienced carers until you feel ready, and the training carries on after that. What we can't teach is turning up when you said you would, and treating someone's mum the way you'd want someone to treat yours.

What you need

A full driving licence valid in the UK and a car you can use. You'll be driving between visits all shift, so it's the one thing we can't work around. You'd add business use to your insurance before you start, which is usually a small addition to a policy.

You'll need to be 18 or over for this role.
